Santa for the tropical north
Christmas up here looks different to the southern states. December is hot, sticky and often stormy, the kids are on holidays by the second week, and a lot of events happen outdoors under shade sails or inside the air conditioning. We have been supplying Santas since 2007, and we know a suit and a beard need a bit of planning when the humidity is high.
Book a Santa covers Cairns and the wider Far North through our network of 500 performers across Australia. Once you tell us your date, time and venue, we match a performer who suits the job and can get there. We do not promise a Santa who lives down the road, because availability in the far north is limited and dates go early.
Every performer holds a current Queensland Blue Card and is professionally trained. You get a free instant quote online, no obligation, and you pay nothing until your Santa is allocated.
Areas we cover in Far North Queensland
Cairns and surrounding suburbs, Smithfield, Edmonton, Gordonvale, Port Douglas, the Atherton Tablelands, Mareeba and Innisfail. Outlying towns beyond the main centres are also possible. Travel may apply for those, and it shows in your quote before you decide.
Planning a December event in the wet season
A Santa in full costume in a Cairns December is a serious job. Hot days, high humidity and the odd afternoon storm all need to be part of the plan, for the performer and for your guests.
A few things make a real difference:
- Choose an indoor, air conditioned room or a properly shaded spot. Full sun on a hot afternoon is hard on everyone, and Santa can only do short stints there.
- Book the cooler part of the day where you can. Mornings usually suit both families and performers better than the middle of the afternoon.
- Have a wet weather plan for outdoor events. A storm can roll in quickly, so a covered backup space saves the day.
- Give Santa a cool spot to rest between sessions, with water nearby. It keeps the visit going longer and keeps the smiles genuine.
- Allow extra time for travel between towns. Distances in the north are bigger than they look on the map.
Events we can help with up north
From a small staff lunch to a whole community day, here are the kinds of events our clients book.
Work and corporate parties
Staff functions in Cairns offices, resorts, clubs and workshops, from a short surprise visit to a full afternoon.
Resorts and holiday venues
Port Douglas and the northern beaches see plenty of visitors in December. A Santa visit suits families on holiday.
Book early, stay flexible
Regional dates fill fast, and Far North Queensland is no different. Saturdays and Sundays in late November and December go first, especially late morning to early afternoon. If you can lock in your date early, you give us the best chance of matching the right performer.
If your event time is flexible, tell us. Being open to a different hour, or a weekday, can be the difference between a confirmed Santa and a waitlist. We recommend not advertising your event until your performer is confirmed. Once they are, your client portal includes free simple promotional flyers you can use to spread the word.
For the Tablelands, Port Douglas and other outlying towns, travel may apply. It shows in your instant quote, so there are no surprises.

Far North Queensland Santa hire, your questions answered
Do you have a Santa in Cairns?
We have a network of 500 performers across Australia, and we match a suitable performer to your date, time and venue. Availability in the far north is limited, so we recommend booking as early as you can.
Are your Santas checked to work with children?
Yes. Every performer holds a current Working With Children Check or state equivalent. In Queensland that is the Blue Card. All performers are professionally trained.
How does Santa cope with the wet season heat?
Santa will work in costume, but hot and humid days are tough. Indoor air conditioned venues or well shaded spaces are best, and cooler times of day help. Tell us your venue when you get your quote.
Will travel costs apply for Port Douglas, the Tablelands or Innisfail?
Travel may apply for outlying towns. It shows in your free instant quote, so you can see the full cost before you decide.
